Pain level
The pubic piercing is a surface piercing placed on the pubic mound, above the base of the penis. A surface barbell is passed beneath two points of skin. Clothing friction and repetitive movement in this area create a higher-than-average rejection rate, making careful jewelry selection and consistent aftercare critical.
Compatible jewelry
Surface barbell in ASTM F136 titanium. Common gauge: 14 gauge.
Aftercare
Apply sterile saline twice daily. Protect the jewelry from clothing friction — avoid tight waistbands and elastic. Consult your piercer promptly if migration or skin thinning over the barbell is noticed.
Contraindications
Significant adipose tissue in the pubic area is a major risk factor for rejection. Dense pubic hair, overly thin or mobile skin are also contraindications. Long-term success rates are lower than soft-tissue piercings.
